Why do some US or UK sizes match two EU sizes?
EU sizes go up in steps of 2/3 cm (the Paris point, 6.67 mm), UK and US sizes in steps of 1/3 inch (8.47 mm). Because the two scales do not line up, the converter's table assigns both EU 38.5 and EU 39 to UK 5.5, and both EU 35.5 and EU 36 to US men's 4. In such cases the converter shows the first, i.e. smaller, EU size and highlights both rows in the size chart. Which one fits depends on the manufacturer, so go by the brand's size chart and your measured foot length.
