How do I find the cheapest mobile phone plan?
Determine your actual usage (data, minutes, texts), compare network operators and resellers, check for contract length and cancellation terms, and consider prepaid options if usage varies.
What is the difference between network operators and resellers?
Germany has three networks: Telekom, Vodafone, and Telefonica (O2). Resellers use these networks at lower prices but sometimes with reduced speeds or priority.
Why does a monthly cancellable plan look so cheap in the total costs?
Total costs are the monthly fee × minimum term, i.e. only what you commit to at a minimum. With the default values, “Tarif A” (€9.99, 24 months) costs €239.76 and “Tarif B” (€14.99, 1 month) only €14.99 – but used for two years it would be €359.76. For a fair comparison, enter the same term for all plans, for example 24 months, or compare the monthly price and the price per GB: “Tarif B” costs €1.00 per GB, “Tarif A” €2.00. One-off connection fees or device costs are not included in the calculator.
