Key Data and Facts
Compensation entitlement only upon termination of employment (Section 7(4) Federal Leave Act). Calculation: gross salary / working days per month * remaining leave days.
Step-by-Step Guide
How to calculate vacation pay compensation step by step: 1. Enter the gross monthly salary: the last full monthly salary before the end of the employment relationship. 2. Determine working days per month: on average 21.67 working days (260 days / 12 months) for a 5-day week. 3. Calculate the daily wage: gross monthly salary / 21.67. At 3,500 EUR: 3,500 / 21.67 = 161.52 EUR/day. 4. Determine the remaining vacation days: check the vacation entitlement still open from the current year and, if applicable, the previous year. In the case of leaving during the year: a pro-rata entitlement (1/12 per full month in the first half of the year). 5. Calculate the compensation: daily wage x remaining vacation days. 6. Note the deductions: vacation pay compensation is fully subject to tax and social security contributions like normal salary. Special payments such as holiday bonus are not taken into account.
Calculation Example
monthly gross 3.500 EUR, 12 Resturlaubstage. Tagesverdienst: 3.500 / 21,67 = 161,52 EUR. Urlaubsabgeltung gross: 12 x 161,52 = 1.938,24 EUR.
