Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add months to a date?

When adding months, the same day number is used in the target month. If the target month has fewer days (e.g. 31 January + 1 month), it rounds to the last day of February.

When do claims expire (limitation)?

The standard limitation period is 3 years (§ 195 BGB). It begins at the end of the year in which the claim arose. A claim from May 2023 expires on 31 December 2026.

What is an exclusion deadline?

Exclusion deadlines permanently extinguish the right if missed, without any possibility of reinstatement. Examples: unfair dismissal claim (3 weeks), inheritance renunciation (6 weeks), objection period (1 month).

What day of the week is a particular date?

Our date calculator shows the weekday for every computed date. For reference: 1 January 2026 is a Thursday.

What is the Date Calculator?

The date calculator adds and subtracts days, weeks, months and years from a date and computes date differences in various units.

How does the Date Calculator work?

Choose a base date and specify how many days, weeks, months or years to add or subtract. The calculator shows the resulting date and weekday. For difference calculations: enter two dates.
