Key Data and Facts
Injury benefit: 80% of gross, max. 100% of net. Payable from the 4th day of incapacity. Social security contributions are borne half by the insured person.
Step-by-Step Guide
How to calculate injury benefit step by step: 1. Determine the gross earnings: the regular gross salary before the workplace accident or the occupational illness. 2. Determine the net earnings: the last settled net salary before the event. 3. Calculate the injury benefit: 80 % of the gross earnings, but at most 100 % of the net earnings. The lower amount applies. 4. Start: from the day after the accident, if the incapacity for work lasts longer than 3 calendar days. In the first 6 weeks the employer pays continued remuneration, after that the employers' liability insurance association pays injury benefit. 5. Duration: until the restoration of the ability to work or the determination of a pension. At most 78 weeks. 6. Social security contributions: the insured person bears half of the contributions to KV, PV, RV and AV, the other half is covered by the employers' liability insurance association.
Calculation Example
gross 3.600 EUR, net 2.350 EUR. 80 % gross: 2.880 EUR. Maximal net: 2.350 EUR. Verletztengeld: 2.350 EUR/month. Minus SV-Beitraege (ca. 12 %): Auszahlung ca. 2.068 EUR.
