Orphan's pension is paid until age 18, or until 27 if the child is in education, training, voluntary service, or is disabled. Own income above an allowance reduces the pension amount.

Step-by-Step Guide

How to calculate the orphan's pension step by step: 1. Determine the pension entitlement of the deceased: earnings points x current pension value (42.52 EUR West, 2026). Alternatively, use the amount from the pension notice of the deceased. 2. Determine the type of orphan's pension: half-orphan's pension (one parent deceased): 10 % of the insured person's pension. Full-orphan's pension (both parents deceased): 20 % of the higher insured person's pension. 3. Add the supplementary period: the time from death until the 67th year of life of the deceased is fictitiously credited as insurance time. This increases the pension. 4. Allowance and offsetting: since 2015 the orphan's own income is no longer offset. 5. Duration of receipt: until the 18th birthday. In the case of school, training or studies: until 27 years. In the case of disability: indefinitely. 6. Submit the application to the DRV.

Calculation Example
